Is it true that BCSC is not going to teach cursive writing?

BCSC recognizes that cursive writing is a time-honored traditional style of writing that has aesthetic and creative value. BCSC will continue to teach cursive, however, the time spent on repetitive instruction will be greatly reduced in order to provide instructional time on the 21st Century skill of keyboarding.

BCSC’s mission in part is “preparing students to live productively in a technical, global society.” Working toward this goal often requires a change in our instructional philosophy. Although it will continue to be part of the curriculum, instruction will focus on reading cursive and on developing a legible, personal signature.
