BCSC and its custodial staff place a high priority on daily cleaning of areas that may harbor germs and bacteria. The pertussis or whooping cough bacteria is spread primarily through the air and not on surfaces, however. Students can protect themselves best by covering their mouths in the crook of the arm when they cough or sneeze and avoid close proximity to anyone with a cough accompanied by a fever.
