If the BCSC is discontinuing World Languages at the elementary level, why will Reagan continue to offer Chinese?

BCSC is discontinuing our financial support for world language at the elementary level now. We have moved permanent teachers Ming Chu (Reagan) to EMS and Chun Lin Wang (Cardinal)to WMS. Howver, our visiting Chinese teachers from Shenzhen Foreign Language School will be at Reagan and Cardinal through the end of this school year. The visiting teachers are provided to us through our partnership with Shenzhen. Funding to support this partnership is through the Foreign Language Assistance Grant and the Confucius Institute Grant. Because of our Confucius Classroom status, we were able to develop this relationship with Shenzhen. After the 2010-2011 school year, the world languages program (Chinese and Spanish) will cease to exist at the elementary level.
