Closing or delaying school is always a tough call. There are many factors that play into the decision. Besides road conditions, students walking or waiting at bus stops are also taken into consideration. Monday's weather had the additional issues of colder temperatures with blowing and drifting snow.
The Superintendent's decision is made with the best interest of 7200 students and 1100 staff in mind and will always be to have students in school whenever possible. Parents, on the other hand, always have the final responsibility to decide if conditions in their area are safe/unsafe for their child/children to get to school.
