Please comment on the rationale of accepting a "technology grant" that does not include projectors for the elementary classrooms.

The classroom video projectors are currently being installed district-wide, are fully funded and will be fully operational (they replace TV monitors) through a $271,524 loan from the State Technology Advancement Account (STAA). When the STAA application was submitted in July, the state indicated BCSC should expect to receive approximately $141,000, an amount expected to be only sufficient to bring West MS to parity with East MS, which was constructed with projectors from the outset.

As it turned out, because the state had a limited number of applications for the STAA program, BCSC received $130,000 additional dollars. With the higher amount of STAA funds, coupled with contingency funds remaining from the 2009 Qualified School Construction Bond (QSCB) Technology Infrastructure Project and very competitive projector bids, the classroom projector initiative was extended to all classrooms in the district.
