According to extensive and long term educational research studies, Everyday Math has been found to be the most beneficial mathematics program in the United States and has been for decades. While students with longer exposure to Everyday Math will experience greater eventual and overall mathematics achievement, all students who learn mathematics in this program will benefit from a deeper conceptual understanding of math, whether they have it for only one year or for several.
With the support of their classroom teacher, students who were successful math students, but now are struggling will probably be successful again once they more fully understand the Everyday Math approaches. There is no current plan to use the instructional coaches as student tutors. Their role is intended to be primarily professional development for teachers.
