The East Middle School fields were installed in 2004 -2005, and have been opened for limited use since that time to allow the turf surface to mature. This arrangement worked for several years as the East and West Middle School athletic teams were combined when the split to two middle schools was initiated. The fields have been open for physical education use since East Middle School opened in 2005, and effective with the 2009-2010 school year the fields have been made available for additional use by both school athletics and community use of facilities.
In general, the West Middle School fields are requested more often than East, as the East Middle School fields have no site lighting, limited parking, and until recently, no restroom or concession facilities. All of these functional elements were removed from the scope of the East Middle School project to reduce construction cost.
In the meantime, athletic and non-BCSC use has been accommodated primarily at West Middle School, where the fields have been used by:
- WMS Physical Education (all fields);
- WMS Athletics (all fields);
- Brownsburg Junior Football League (football practice & competition field);
- Brownsburg Little League Baseball (baseball & multipurpose field);
- Brownsburg Girls Softball League (softball field);
- St. Malachy CYA (football field & track);
- Brownsburg Parks & Recreation Department (tennis courts);
- The General Public (soccer field, track, tennis courts, multipurpose field).
