BCSC growth has been modest but steady for the past few years. The cumulative effect, however, of a BCSC commitment to reduce class sizes, an uptick in current enrollment, and the growth of the full day kindergarten program have caused BCSC to evaluate space needs for the future. Currently Reagan Elementary is near capacity and Eagle Elementary would be over capacity if it weren't for the five portable classrooms that are in use for the first time this year.
Work has already begun to add two kindergarten classrooms to each to White Lick Elementary, Cardinal Elementary and Delaware Trail Elementary. When these three schools were built, kindergarten existed as a half-day program, so the schools were constructed with only two kindergarten classrooms. School Board leadership at that time understood the potential for growth in kindergarten enrollment and designed the three schools so kindergarten classrooms could be added with relative ease.
