Have the school counselors taken additional training/certification to assume the role of principal when he/she is not on site?

Like most other school districts without assistant principals in the elementary schools, the school counselor functions as the primary contact when the principal is out of the building. In the event of a principal's extended absence, a central office administrator would step in as a temporary replacement.
