Are there plans to cut teachers next school year?

As are most school districts in Indiana, the BCSC must make significant cuts to the budget. As those decisions are being made, they are updated on the website. You can find a recent presentation to staff that itemizes 24 current steps being taken to reduce the deficit for 2010 and 2011. One of those steps is to reduce 20 "certified" positions. That would not necessarily be all teachers as there are a number of certified staff not in the classroom. An earlier question on this blog clarified the difference between certified and classified staff.
