Why do HA students get special classes when we have so many special needs and LD students?

BCSC embraces the philosophy of, as much as possible, meeting the needs of individual students and helping them reach their individual potential. Parents of learning disabled students would certainly agree that their children deserve an educational program that respects the unique academic needs of their children. Similarly, the parents of high ability students very much want their children to receive services that are tailored to their children's unique academic needs as well. Since aides are rarely assigned to high ability classrooms and since both programs are funded by different sources, there is little connection between offering high ability programming and the ability of the district to reach out to its special needs students.
